What is Ecological Engineering?

It is an emerging discipline of environmental science utilising ecological processes,
within natural or constructed imitation of natural systems to achieve engineering goals

It has also been described as "the design of sustainable ecosystems that integrate human society
with it's natural environment for the benefit of both"

I describe it as simply by manipulating and merging ecological processes with engineering disciplines,
to achieve a zero emission process whilst creating and producing added value products

Waste utilisation or nutrient mining is one of many ecological engineering disciplines

that absorbs nutrient and energy in solid waste or wastewater streams.
